NFL Betting Lines and Odds You Need to Know

The NFL is wrapped around betting lines and odds in so many betting markets. The point spreads and total lines are the most opportunities to bet on games but the money line odds are another way to wager on the action. Parlays are multiple plays wrapped around one bet and you get higher odds depending on how many teams you wager.

Futures are bets over the course of the season and props are bets at offer a yes/no or over/under response. Live in-game wagers are an exciting way to take in the games with non-stop betting action. Promotions and bonuses are extra incentives to spice up NFL lines and odds.

Here are the NFL betting lines and odds that you need to know:

Point Spreads

A point spread is a handicapping tool to note the difference between a favorite and underdog. The amount of difference in a spread is measured in the number of points that is covered.

The NFL handicappers pick a favorite and underdog. If the game is close, the point spread is also close. If the game is far out of reach, the point spread will reflect that matchup too.  There are correlations with three, seven or 10-point differences and the spread tends to reflect the scoring possibilities between the favorite and the underdog.

Total Lines

The total line is the combined points of both teams in a game. Sports bettors will go OVER the total or stay UNDER the total in the matchup.

The NFL oddsmakers sets the total anywhere from 40 points to 60 points on an individual game basis. The general betting public has the tendency to go OVER the total in certain cases where both offenses are dominant. The betting public will stay UNDER the total in a game that features a stellar defense battle.

Money Line Odds

The money line is a straight-up contest between a favorite and underdog. Most games are highlighted by a negative number attached with the favorite and a positive number attached with the underdog. The bettor has a financial risk of wagering with the favorite and they have a financial reward by wager with the underdog.

NFL games have straight-up favorites and underdogs tied to these odds. If odds are -145 for the favorite, they are +125 for the underdog at most typical sportsbooks. Betting on the favorite risks a wager of $145 for a $100 payoff. Wagering on the underdog would payoff $125 for $100 bet if it wins straight up.

Parlays

A parlay is combining two or more wagers in the same bet. The kind of wager does not matter whether is is a point spread, total line or money line odds. The more teams you add to the parlay bet, the more odds you will make. However, only one loss to any team means a loss for the total parlay.

The NFL parlay can translate to big odds as long as you keep winning. A tie or draw reduces your parlay by a single game and a loss ends the parlay bet.

Futures & Props

The futures odds on a sporting event can last a day, a week, a month or even a season. Futures are set around a time period and winners are determined when the results have been set.

The prop bet odds are also determined when results have been set. The most common props involve a  yes/no or over/under decision.

NFL futures & props are odds that is resolved with a game, team or player performance.

Super Bowl 57 Odds for the Top US Sportsbooks

The Buffalo Bills seemed like a lock to win Super Bowl 57 but a couple of losses to the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings has quieted the action. The Kansas City Chiefs have won three in a row since losing to the Bills and, despite the loss to Washington on Monday night, the Philadelphia Eagles are first in the NFC.

The top US sportsbooks are setting the Super Bowl odds in favor to the betting public's reaction for the all key teams' games. It is only mid-November and there is a lot of football to be played. Five of eight divisions are up for grabs and Buffalo is still third in the AFC East.

The $200,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes on Saturday at Delta Downs

Saturday, Nov. 12

Jean Lafitte Stakes – Delta Downs

Win: Toddchero

The Florida-bred two-year colt is trained by Jayde Gelner and ridden by jockey CJ McMahon. He will be breaking out of the No. 4 gate as a prime position in the race. Toddchero placed third in the Clever Trevor Stakes on Oct. 28. That event was won by Wildatlanticstorm with Campfire Creed in second place.

Toddchero finished first, second or third in four of five races this young season. The son of Bucchero has graduated to a mile in the Jean Lafitte after proving himself in dirt sprints. Toddchero is the favorite because of the rather high Horse Racing Nation rating in the field.

Place: Rithm Nic

Trained by Chris Richard, Rithm Nic will be starting No. 1 with Vince Del Cid as his jockey. The two-year colt bred in Kentucky won the Allowance race at Delta Downs on Oct. 21. He covered seven furlongs on dirt in 1:29.58 over Sheer Element and Mor Victory.

Sired by Outwork, he has competed in both dirt and turf sprints. The Jean Lafitte Stakes will be the first time he crossed one mile. Rithm Nic also raced at Canterbury Park in Minnesota and Kentucky Downs.

Show: Mustafa

The two-year gelding was born in Kentucky and raced for Greg Appleyard Highfield Investment Group. Mustafa is trained by Greg Tracy and ridden by jockey Alex Birzer. He will start at No. 5 in the Jean Lafitte Stakes. His first race of the season was at Delta Downs and he won a five-furlong race with a time of 60.48 over Runtoday and Perfect Prank.

Mustafa is sired by Midnight Lute and Moneybru and is going a mile on dirt for the first time in his young career. Bred by champions, Mustafa will use his home-track advantage to finish in the money in spite of his youth.

Montreal is a +145 underdog on the road.

The British Columbia Lions are four-point road underdogs in their trip to IG Field in taking on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at 4:30 p.m. The total has been set at 49.5 points for the OVER/UNDER and the money line odds are listed at -195 for Winnipeg as a home favorite and +170 for BC as an underdog on the road.

The NFL's "Best Bets" of Week 10

The NFL's Week 10 "Best Bets"

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Jaguars won last Sunday 27-20 over the Los Angeles Chargers to disrupted a five-game losing streak in they last five outings. Jacksonville was 0-2 (SU and ATS) has a underdogs in its last two road games. Kansas City went 3-1 SU at home this season and the only loss was to Buffalo.

Jackson is 0-5 SU against Kansas both at home and on the road in the last five matchups. The Chiefs have the most points in the AFC and the Jaguars have allowed an average of 30.3 points in three of their four road games. The best bet is Kansas City laying the 9.5 points at home.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Cardinals lost 20-12 to the Rams in late September as 3.5-point home underdogs. Arizona is 2-4 SU in the last six road games against Los Angeles. While neither team has been lighting up the scoreboard lately, the Rams own the Cardinels going 9-1 SU (8-1-1 ATS) in the last 10 meetings overall.

With only six combined wins, Arizona and LA are riding out the string on this season. The best bet is the Rams winning the game SU on the money line at home (-124 at FanDuel) instead of covering the 1.5-point spread.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Chargers are 4-1 SU in they last five games and the 49ers are 3-2 both SU and ATS in the same time frame. Los Angeles has taken the total OVER in four of the last six games and San Francisco's total has gone OVER in three of the last four contests.

The total has gone OVER in eight of the last 11 games between these two interconfernse teams. Los Angeles and San Francisco are both featuring the running game but passing is a option with Justin Herbert (the Chargers) and Jimmy Garoppolo (the 49ers) both at quarterback. The best bet is taking the OVER on 45.5 points in a three-point game either way.

NFL Thursday Night Football Week 10 - Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers

Week 10 in the NFL regular season begins with a NFC South matchup between the Atlanta Falcons against the Carolina Panthers. The Falcons are three-point favorites on the road and the total line is OVER/UNDER 43.5 points.

At 4-5, Atlanta is tied for first place with Tampa Bay in the division and the Panthers are last at 2-7. However, the only team that is making the postseason is winning the NFC South. The Falcons are 1-3 SU on the road and Carolina is 2-3 SU at home.

Atlanta moves the ball forward by rushing at a 158.13 yards a game but the offense cannot pass the ball, averaged 162.63 yards a contest. The Falcons' defense is ranked last in yards allowed. Carolina has put up 179 points on the scoreboard in a total of nine games which relates to 19.75 points per game. The Panthers' defense has allowed an avegade of 25.1 points a game.

Bad offense and a worse defense are one thing they have in common but Atlanta could get the better of the two teams on Thursday night. Carolina lost to the Falcons 37-34 just two weeks ago as a four-point road underdog. The Panthers were doubled-up by Cincinnati on the road 42-21 in Week 9.

My best bet in Week 10 of Thursday night would be Atlanta straight-up on the money line. The -158 odds at FanDuel are not that bad when giving up the points in the spread.

The second and third place teams in each CFL division square off in the semifinals this Sunday. In the East Division at 1 p.m. (ET), the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are three-point road underdogs against the Montreal Alouettes. The total line is 48.5 points and the money line odds are +130 for Hamilton and -150 for Montreal.

At 4:30 p.m. in BC, the Calgary Stampeders on the road against the Lions. The point spread is three points favoring BC and the total line is 50.5 points. The money line odds are +115 for the Stampeders and -135 for the Lions.

My Trifecta for the Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland

Saturday, Nov. 5

Breeders’ Cup Classic – Keeneland Race Course

Win: Flightline

Starting at post No. 4, the four-year colt has veteran jockey Flavien Prat to show him the way. Trained by John Sadler, Flightline has five victories in five races under his belt. The Grade 1 Pacific Classic was his most recent win. He covered 1 ¼ miles on dirt in 1:59.28 over Country Grammer and Royal Ship.

As a son of Tapit, he won coast-to-coast races this season. Starting in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Stakes at Belmont Park in New York, Flightline raced at Del Mar in the West Coast’s Pacific Classic on Sept. 3. In winning the BC Classic, he should be three-for-three in all time zones.

Place: Life Is Good

Trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by jockey Irad Ortiz Jr, Life Is Good started off this four-year campaign by taking first place in Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream. More recently, he won the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack on Oct. 1.

Sired by Into Mischief, he has been bred by power and speed to handle the longer distances on dirt. Life Is Good is better off at this track starting in post No. 2 to give him to inside edge. He has the ability to break out of the pack and into the early lead.

Show: Hot Rod Charlie

After placing in the money in Triple Crown events’ the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes, Hot Rod Charlie was a bonfire contender in major graded events. As a four-year old, he won the Grade 2 Lukas Classic Stakes at Churchill Downs on Oct. 1 over Rich Strike and King Fury.

Hot Rod Charlie is the son of Oxbow and he is trained by Doug O’Neill. He is starting at Gate 5 in this race with Tyler Gaffalione as his jockey.

The NFL's "Best Bets" of Week 9

The  NFL's Week 9 "Best Bets"

Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions

The Packers have lost four in a row SU and they covered once ATS in last Sunday night's game against Buffalo by a half point losing 27-17. This game, Green Bay is a 3.5-point favorite on the road. Detroit has lost five straight games SU and has not covered in four. The advantage is the Lions gaining a half point on the spread.

Green Bay is 0-5 ATS on the road against the Lions in the last five games in Detroit. Given the three-point spread either way, the best bet is a cover by the Lions at home.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals

Seattle has won three straight (SU and ATS) games by double-digit margins. The Seahawks' offense is supported by running back Kenneth Walker III and the defense is supported by 22 sacks in eight games. Arizona has lost three out of four games SU due to inconsistent play on offense, defense and special teams.

The Seahawks are 7-1-1 SU in their last nine road  games against Arizona. At two-point underdogs on the road this Sunday, they should follow suit. The best bet is Seattle covering the point spread against the Cardinals by winning SU.

Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Tennessee has won its last five straight games this season (SU and ATS) by running the ball and playing defense. Kansas City is 5-2 SU in the regular season by passing the ball via Patrick Mahones. The Titans and the Chiefs are on top of their division in the AFC but Kansas City is a 12-point favorite at home.

The Titans are 5-1 both SU and ATS against the Chiefs in the last six games they played. As long as Tennessee runs the ball efficiently this Sunday night, the score should not get way out of hand. The best bet is Tennessee covering the 12 points on the road.

Thursday Night Football Week 9- Philadelphia Eagles vs. Houston Texans

Week 9 of the NFL kicks off Thursday night with the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles visiting the Houston Texans as 13-points road favorites. The total line for this game is 44 points.

Philadelphia is 7-0 SU on the year and 5-2 ATS. The Texans are just 1-5-1 SU but 3-3-1 against the spread. Houston is 2-1-1 ATS on the road and 1-2 ATS at home this season and the total has stayed UNDER in four of the last seven games.

The Eagles are double-digit favorites on the road in light of the way they performed this season both on offense and defense. The Philadelphia offense has scored 196 points which is third in the NFC while only playing seven games. The Eagles' defense has 23 sacks and 10 interceptions in the same timeframe.

The Texans are double-digit home underdogs which points to their performance in a bad way. Davis Mills is quarterback for Houston and he only has eight touchdown throws against six interceptions. The offensive rushing attack only equals 647 yards in seven games. The defense of Houston is not that bad but it has been on the field for a long time heading into a short week.

In light in of recent betting stats, Philadelphia is 5-1 ATS in its last six road games going back to the previous season. The Eagles are 10-1 SU in its last 11 games against the AFC South. The total has gone OVER in six of the Eagles' last seven games against the AFC.

Houston is 1-9-1 SU in its last 11 games at home and 0-7 SU againsts the NFC in seven games. The total has gone OVER in four of the last five games against the NFC East. The Texans are 3-10 ATS in the last 13 games played on a Thursday.

The Eagles should cover the 13 points on the road and the total will go OVER the 44-point line. Philadelphia lights it up on offense to spark the game going over 50 points combined.

This Saturday's Winner at the Twilight Derby in Santa Anita Park

Saturday, October 29

Twilight Derby – Santa Anita Park

Win: War At Sea

This Kentucky-bred three-year colt is trained by Ronald Ellis and he has raced for Doubledown Stables. War At Sea recently placed third in the Grade 3 Del Mar Derby on Sept. 3. He won three races at Santa Anita before that event, including the Cinema Stakes on June 4.

Sired by War Front, he has been in the money in every race this year, starting from a six-furlong sprint at Santa Anita in the beginning of January. War At Sea has spent his entire career racing at Santa Anita and Del Mar.

Place: Go Joe Won

Trained by Paula Capestro, this three-year gelding was also bred in Kentucky racing for Hurst Racing Stable. Go Joe Won finished first in the ungraded Shared Belief Stakes in Del Mar on Sept. 3. He completed the one mile run on turf in 1:37.69 over High Connection and Newgrange.

As a son of Protonico, he raced in Santa Anita and Del Mar the entire time he was competitive. Go Joe Won finished first, second or third in the final four races of his young career. All four events were one mile and longer on turf.

Show: Balnikhov

Despite finish fourth in the Del Mar Derby this past September, Balnikhov is the top of this list for HRN’s ratings with 5.67 in the Twilight Derby. The three-year old gelding was bred in Ireland and competitive at West Coast tracks such as Santa Anita and Del Mar. He won at Del Mar in the Oceanside Stakes on July 22, covered one mile on turf.

Balnikhov is the son of Adaay and he has finish in the money in three of the last five races he ran. All one mile or longer, he has covered the distances with a firm surface on turf.

The NFL "Best Bets" of Week 8

The NFL Week 8 "Best Bets"

New England Patriots vs. New York Jets

The Patriots lost to Chicago 33-14 this past Monday night to spoil a two-game winning streak SU and a three-game cover against the spread. New England is 3-4 SU and 3-3-1 ATS overall in the year. New York has won four games in a row both SU and ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in the Jets' last two games while giving up a combined 19 points.

New England is 4-1 ATS against the Jets in the last five regular season games but this is not the same old New York team. The new Jets are on top their game both on offense and defense and the best bet prediction this they will win straight up as 2.5-point home underdogs.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams

San Francisco lost to Atlanta 28-14 on the road and Kansas City 44-23 at home to fall to 3-4 both SU and ATS on the year. The LA Rams are just 3-3 SU and 2-4 ATS coming off of their bye week but they are underdogs at home.

All the betting trends are against the Rams in this matchup but one - Los Angeles is 4-1 SU in the last five games of the Week 8 season. The best bet in this NFC West battle is the Rams covers the spread as 1.5-point home underdogs.

Green Bay Packers vs. Buffalo Bills

The Packers have lost three games SU and they have not covered against the spread in the last four outings. Buffalo has won three straight while going 5-1 SU (4-1-1 ATS) in the last six games. There is a separation between these inter-conference ballclubs that is easy to define.

Green Bay +11 on the road is too unimageable to describe but it this the point spread line with a number of top US sportsbooks. The best bet in this matchup could be the UNDER in 47.5 points. The Packers have scored a combined 42 points in three road games this season and Buffalo's defense has allowed a combined 43 points in its last three games.

Fanatics Plans to Launch US Sports Betting in January of 2023

Fanatics has been toying with the idea of entering US sports betting since New York legislators first had the idea of online sportsbooks in the state. The sports apparel company did not get selected to open up a online book in New York but it never let the goal of legal sport betting for the country.

Earlier in October, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin announced that the company will be rolling out US sports betting in January of 2023. In September in that year, Fanatics Sportsbook will be legal in 15 to 20 states across the US.

Doc's Sports Service has broken the story in Fanatics Plans to Launch its US Sports Betting Division in January, 2023.

Thursday Night Football Week 8 - Baltimore Ravens vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This week, the Thursday Night Football crew of Amazon Prime will be in Tampa Bay for the matchup between the Ravens and the Buccaneers. Baltimore comes down to Florida as a 1.5 road favorite and the OVER/UNDER line is 45 points.

The money line odds are Baltimore as a -125 road favorite and Tampa Bay as a +105 home underdog. The Ravens have gone 3-2 SU but they are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games. The Buccaneers have lost four of last five games SU and their have not covered in all five attempts.

The best bet in this NFL inter-division game could be the UNDER on the total. The total has stayed UNDER in the last four Baltimore games and it has stayed UNDER in six of Tampa Bay's seven games in the regular season.

The Ravens have averages 20.5 points a game over the last four contests. The Buccaneers came up short in back-to-back losses with 18 points against Pittsburgh and three points against Carolina on the road. Tampa Bay has averages 17.1 points-per-game all season long.

Baltimore's Lamar Jackson has 197 passing attempts and he has 121 completions for 1,397 passing yards and just 13 touchdown scores. He is better off running the ball with 66 carries for 510 rushing yards in his seven games.

Tom Brady has a long history of passing the ball in New England and more recently Tampa Bay. The future Hall of Fame quarterback is not living up to his GOAT-like status this season. He is completing 198 passes in seven games for 1,942 yards and eight touchdown receptions. At the prime of his career, Brady could shake this off. But at the age of 45, he does not have a pray with the Tampa Bay players on offense.

Go low on the total point line on Week 8 of Thursday Night Football as scoring points will be a task for both teams.

The NFL "Best Bets" of Week 7

NFL Week 7 "Best Bets"

Indianapolis vs. Tennessee

The Colts have won three of the last four games both SU and ATS but the one sticking point was a 24-17 loss to Tennessee. The Titans are now 3-0 (SU and ATS) and looking to capitalize on home field in the tight race a top the AFC South.

Indianapolis is just 1-5 both SU and ATS in its last six games against Tennessee. The best bet is the Titans covering the 2.5 points has home favorites to sweep the Colts in the regular season.

Kansas City vs. San Francisco

Kansas City beat Tampa Bay on the road and Las Vegas at home before last Sunday's 24-20 loss to Buffalo as a 2.5-point home underdog. The 49ers beat the Rams at home and Carolina on the road before losing to Atlanta 28-14 as 3.5-point road favorites.

The Chiefs are 4-1 SU against San Francisco in the previous five outings and 5-1 ATS in the last six games. Kansas City is 14-5-1 SU in the last 20 games against the NFC West. The best bet is to lay the three points on the road and stick with the Chiefs to cover.

Pittsburgh vs. Miami

Pittsburgh (1-5) upset Tampa Bay 20-18 but the interesting stat is the total staying UNDER the 46.5-point line in that game. The total also stayed UNDER in Miami's three of the last four games of the season. The points scored have stayed under 230 for both these teams combined in the last six contests.

The total has stayed UNDER in five of the last seven games when Pittsburgh goes on the road to play Miami. The total has also stayed UNDER in 10 out of the Steelers' 11 games against the AFC East. With a total line of 44.5 points in this matchup, the best bet in the UNDER on the game.

Breeders' Cup Classic Futures

The 2022 Breeders' Cup horse racing event will cover both Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky. Friday is earmarked for two-year fillies and colts highlighted by the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Saturday is reserved for horses three and older running on turf and dirt.

The featured event on Saturday is the Breeders' Cup Classic. The Grade 1 BC Classic will cover 1 1/4 miles on dirt and the price purse is $6 million. The list of  early entries and their future odds to win this race are listed below:

Flightline -150

Epicenter +575

Life Is Good +700

Taiba +1000

Hot Rod Charlie +1800

Olympiad +1800

Cyberknife +2000

Country Grammer +2500

Defunded +2800

Zandon +3300

Rich Strike +3300

Happy Saver +3300

Americanrevolution +3300

Flightline is predicted to be a morning line favorite and BetOnline has futures of -150 odds on winning this race. The trainer is John Sadler and the jockey is Flavien Prat. The four-year colt won the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar on Sept. 3. On June 11 of this year, he won the Grade 1 Metropolitan Stakes at Belmont Park in Long Island, New York.

The second choice is Epicenter going off at +575 odds. The three-year old Kentucky-bred colt was the favorite in the Kentucky Derby but he finished second behind Rich Strike. The son of Not This Time won the Grade 2 Jim Dandy and the Grade 1 Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course this summer. Epicenter is a nice complement to Flightline in the exacta portion of this race.

Life Is Good makes sense at finishing in the money but Hot Rod Charlie is a value bet in taking his place. Trained by Doug O'Neill and ridden by jockey Tyler Gaffalione, Hot Rod Charlie could be a steal to finish third at +1800 odds. Cyberknife at +2000 and Zandon at +3300 could make things interesting if the breakers fall their way.

The 2022 Breeders' Cup Classic is the final event that brings together an entire horse racing card spread over two days in early November. The Breeders' Cup offers competition from 16 different country of the world and 14 championship divisions.

This Weekend at Keeneland Race Course

Keeneland Race Course weekend resulted are posted in ScoresandStats.com

This Weekend at Keeneland for Graded Stakes Racing

This weekend at Keeneland Race Course are three exciting graded events as the highlight of these racing cards. The $300,000 Sycamore Stakes on Friday is open to Thoroughbreds ages three and older. Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup is a Grade 1 race with a prize purse of $600,000 and is open to three-year fillies. The Franklin Stakes is open to fillies and mares three and up. Sunday’s graded race has a prize purse of $300,000.

The Grade 3 Sycamore Stakes is 1 ½ miles on turf and it features Red Knight, Shawdyshawdyshawdy, Balthus and Accredit. They all won their events the last time out.

The Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup has favorites’ Pizza Bianca and Cairo Memories. Horse Racing Nation’s rating rank them No. 1 & No. 2 in the field. They are leading the way in 1 1/8 miles on turf.

Sunday’s Grade 3 Franklin Stakes is the 5 ½ sprint on turf. Change of Control, Twilight Gleaming and Tobys Heart are the frontrunners in the race.

My take of the champions of Keeneland’s three graded stakes events in the weekend’s race card are Channel Maker, Cairo Memories and Twilight Gleaming.

Friday’s Sycamore Stakes

Winner: Channel Maker

Channel Maker finished 10th in the Sword Dancer at Saratoga this August but the eight-year gelding has the top HRN rating in the field on the Sycamore Stakes. Trainer by William Mott and ridden by jockey Luis Saez, he has won the Grade 2 Elkhorn Stakes at Keeneland this spring.

The son of English Channel has a veteran’s touch at 1 ½ miles on turf. He placed fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf last year and won the Grand Couturier at Belmont earlier this year. Channel Maker is the class of this field with a HRN rating of 7.26.

Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup

Winner: Cairo Memories

This Kentucky-bred three-year filly finished third in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks on Aug. 20 with Spendarella first and Bellabel second. Cairo Memories was in the money three times in five races this year. She won the Grade 3 Providencia Stakes and the Grade 3 Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita Park in the spring.

Sired by Cairo Prince, she has run 1 1/8 miles on turf to finish in the money three times this year. Trained by Robert Hess Jr, Cairo Memories has the speed and power to shed the main contenders in this race.

Sunday’s Franklin Stakes

Winner: Twilight Gleaming

Bred in Ireland, this three-old filly has a nature flare with this sprint on turf. She won the Mamzelle Overnight Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 14 and the Daisycutter Handicap at Del Mar on July 29. Twilight Gleaming has taken first or second place in all the races she has run.

Trained by Wesley Ward, she won the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint last November as the signature event for two-year old turf sprinters. Twilight Gleaming should finish first in the Franklin Stakes this Sunday in the competitive field.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles Sportsbook Views Report

The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles meet for the 127th time this Sunday night. Between the two teams, the Cowboys and Eagles are lining up to the be reining champ of the NFC Eastern Division this year.

At 4-1, Dallas's defense has taken charge in leading the division in fewest points allowed in five games. Behind stellar quarterback Jalen Hurts, the Eagles' offense is the No. 1 offense in the NFC East at the name time frame. Philadelphia is 5-0 and favors by six points at home. The Sunday night total line is 42 points.

The Cowboys come in without Dak Prescott taking snaps at center. Quarterback Cooper Rush has engineered the four-game winning streak followed by a 19-3 loss on Opening Day to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Prescott went down with the an injurie in his right hand in that game.

Rush has orchestrated 839 passing yards and four touchdown throws on the year. The Cowboys' defense has risen to the occasion with 20 sacks and five interceptions in five games.

The Eagles are 5-0 for the first time since 2004. Along with Philadelphia's overachieve offense, the Birds' defense has also played the role in the successful start. The main fuel in the fire is playing at home this season. The Eagles are 53-28 at home in two games.

Breaking down the betting stats of Dallas vs. Philadelphia, the Cowboys are 6-0 ATS in their last six road games overall. Dallas is 14-3 ATS in its last 17 games against the NFC. The Eagles are 4-1 SU in their last five games against the NFC East. The total has gone OVER in Philadelphia's six of the last seven home games.

Head-to-head, the favorite is 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meeting and the total has stayed UNDER in five of the last seven meetings in Philadelphia.

The Eagles will SU win and the Cowboys will cover but the best bet has the total line staying UNDER 42 points.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Philadelphia Eagles Sportsbook Views Report

The Jacksonville Jaguars are up against the Philadelphia Eagles as 6.5-point road underdogs this Sunday. The total line is set at 46.5 points. Philadelphia fans could be drooling after the point spread came down a bit on an open line of seven. Yet, the Jaguars are improving under head coach Doug Pederson.

Pederson is returning to the scene of the crime when he coached the Eagles. One year removed, he is leading his team against Philadelphia in Sunday's contest. Jacksonville's quarterback Trevor Lawrence is one for the key pieces of the game and so is the Jaguars' defense. This team really shined in the 38-10 win against the Chargers on the road.

Philadelphia's offense under quarterback Jalen Hurts has gotten of to an impressive start in the first three games. The Eagles have produced 86 points while giving up a combined 50 points. Hurts has complete a total of 916 yards to average 9.3 yards a game. He has gained 167 yards on the ground in 37 attempts.

Eagles' wide receive AJ Brown is the leading pass catcher on the team with 309 yards on 20 receptions and running back Miles Sanders leads the way in rushing with 222 yards gain on 45 carriers.

The sticking point on the opening seven spread is a current half point in the Eagles' favor. Philadelphia's offense at home is on course to light things up but the Jaguars' defense could dampen its effect. In a defense struggled by both sides, the Eagles come away with the win 20-13.

Philadelphia could cover the 6.5 points in the spread but the safeties play is the total staying UNDER the 46.5-point line.

Betting Saturday's Card at Monmouth Park

The following "best bets" for Saturday's race card at Monmouth Park are reposted via permission from ScoresandStats.com

Saturday’s “Best Bets” for a Trio of Graded Stakes Races at Monmouth Park

Monmouth Park in New Jersey is best known as the host track for the annual Grade 1 Haskell Stakes later in July. This Saturday, the coastal New Jersey horse racing venue has caught my eye with a trio of interesting betting events on the daily card.

All three of these races are Grade 3 stakes events and each one has $150,000 up for grabs in total prize money. The Eatontown Stakes is a turf race open to fillies and mares three and older. It will be contested over a distance of 1 1/16 miles.

The Salvator Mile will be run on the dirt track at Monmouth. This graded event is open to Thoroughbreds three and older. As the featured event of the day, the Monmouth Stakes covers 1 1/8 miles on the turf. This race is also open to three-year old Thoroughbreds and older.

Breaking down the probable field for each of Saturday’s races, I have come up with my winning pick along with ‘one to watch’ in each projected field.

Saturday, June 18 – Monmouth Park

Eatontown Stakes

My top choice to win this race would be Princess Grace. This five-year old Kentucky-bred mare has been able to finish in the money in each of her last seven races. Idle for 2022, trainer Michael Stidham has hand-picked this race for her season debut. Still listed as probable for Saturday, she would have the highest Horse Racing Nation rating in the projected field at 6.55.

Trainer Shug McGaughey’s Vigilantes Way would be my one to watch coming off a second-place finish in this year’s Miss Liberty Stakes at Monmouth Park on May 30. This was the five-year old mare’s sixth finish in the money in her last seven races.

Salvator Mile Stakes

The race is expected to feature Hot Rod Charlie as my favorite in the projected field. Trained by Doug O’Neill, the son of Oxbow placed second in this year’s Grade 1 Dubai World Cup in late March after opening his 2022 racing season with a victory in the Al Maktoum Challenge at that same track on Feb. 4. Saturday’s race would act as a warm-up prep for the upcoming summer racing schedule, including the Haskell Stakes in late July.

My one to watch would be trainer Todd Pletcher’s Mind Control if he runs in this race. The son of Stay Thirty faded to fifth in this year’s Grade 1 Churchill Downs Stakes his last time out.

Monmouth Stakes

Trainer Danny Gargan is expected to enter Tax in Saturday’s featured event. If the six-year old gelding gets the green light to run, he would be my clear favorite to win. This would be his first event in 2022 after placing 10th in last year’s Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup. The long layoff would be a concern but this veteran horse appears to be the class of this field. The son of Arch still holds a lofty 6.67 HRN rating despite the long layoff.

If trainer Gerald Bennett decides to run Carpenters Call in Saturday’s race, he would definitely be my one to watch. This four-year old Kentucky-bred colt only managed a sixth-place finish at Monmouth in the ungraded Cliff Hanger Stakes in late May but that was an off day at the track.

CFL Betting Pick of the Week

Week 2 of the new CFL season features an interdivision clash between the West's Calgary Stampeders and the East's Hamilton Tiger-Cats as two of the stronger teams in the league. Game time in Hamilton is set for 6:30 p.m. (ET) on Saturday night.

Calgary ran past Montreal 30-27 in its season opener but failed to cover as a four-point home favorite. The total went OVER the closing 48.5-point line. The Tiger-Cats opened up their season on the road and came up short in a 30-13 loss to Saskatchewan as 2.5-point underdogs. The total in that game stayed UNDER 48 points.

The current CFL betting lines for Saturday's contest at VegasInsider have Hamilton favored by a point with the total set at 45 points. As part of my weekly CFL coverage for this popular sports betting site, my best bet in this game is the UNDER on the total.

The total has stayed UNDER in 13 of the last 16 games between these two teams. It has also stayed UNDER in 12 of the last 15 meetings in Hamilton. Points may be hard to come by on Saturday night with defense being the focal point in this matchup.

Betting Saturday's Belmont Stakes

My "best bet" picks for Saturday's Belmont Stakes are reposted below via permission from ScoresandStats.com

Betting Picks for Saturday’s Belmont Stakes

This Saturday’s Belmont Stakes marks the third and final event in the 2022 Triple Crown racing series for the best three-year old Thoroughbreds in this year’s class. This race is also the toughest test these contenders will face of the three, covering 1 ½ miles on the dirt track at Belmont Park in Elmont New York.

The total prize purse for this year’s Belmont Stakes has been set at $1.5 million as part of a full day of major graded events on Saturday’s card. A few of the other big betting events include the $1 million Metropolitan Handicap and the $750,000 Manhattan Stakes. All told, there are nine graded events in what should be an unbelievable day of exciting betting action at Belmont.

The field for the Belmont Stakes is set at eight with post time slated for 6:44 p.m. (ET). Going through the eight-horse field for Saturday’s main event, the following three entries stand out as my “best bet” trifecta pick along with one to watch that could easily figure into the mix.

2022 Belmont Stakes – Belmont Park

Win: Mo Donegal

The son of Uncle Mo was one of my picks to finish in the money in this year’s Kentucky Derby but he faded to fifth. Breaking from the No. 6 post on Saturday, he has been opened as a 5-2 favorite to win. Trained by Todd Pletcher and jockeyed by Irad Ortiz Jr, I would have to agree with the morning line on this three-year old Kentucky-bred colt.

His biggest career win was in this year’s Grade 2 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct Racetrack on April 9. Racing at another New York track this Saturday, he appears to be the class of the field.

Place Creative Minister

Stretching the odds a bit at 6-1, this Kentucky-bred colt caught my eye with his third-place finish in May’s Preakness Stakes as the second leg of the Triple Crown. With Early Voting and Epicenter sitting out this year’s Belmont Stakes, the son of Creative Cause has a clear path to finishing in the top two.

Trained by Kenneth McPeek and ridden by jockey Brian Hernandez, he will break from the favorable No. 5 post on Saturday. The longer distance of this race should play into his strength down the stretch.

Show: Rich Strike

I am not taking anything away from this year’s Kentucky Derby winner as an 80-1 longshot. This victory will remain one of the biggest upsets in the history of major graded stakes racing. However, I do not see lighting striking twice for this three-year old Kentucky-bred colt. Rich Strike should be a factor in this race given the size of the field but the longer distance should keep him no better than third in the final finishing order.

Trained by Eric Reed, the son of Keen Ice will break from the No. 4 post on Saturday at 7-2 odds on the morning line. The second-favorite in the field will be ridden by jockey Sonny Leon.

One to Watch

The lone filly in the field is Pletcher’s Nest at 8-1 odds. She will break from the No. 3 post with jockey Jose Ortiz. She is coming off an impressive second-place finish in this year’s Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill.

CFL Week 1 "Best Bet" Picks

The 2022 CFL regular season gets underway this week as the only game in town when it comes to betting on live football games. The two-time Grey Cup Champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers are looking to make a third title run this season as +300 favorites on the VegasInsider CFL futures board.

The Bombers appear to remain the team to beat with Zach Collaros leading the way at quarterback. He led the CFL in touchdown throws last season with 20 against six interceptions. He was second on the list in total passing yards with 3,185 on 243 completions.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are second-favorites to win this year's Grey Cup at +475 odds. They lost to Winnipeg in last year's West Division Final. Once again leading the way at quarterback is Cody Fajardo. He is coming off the best performance of his CFL career with 2,970 passing yards and 14 touchdown throws.

The top two teams in the East Division with +500 odds to win the 2022 CFL title are the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts. The next three teams on the list at +750 odds are the Calgary Stampeders and Edmonton Elks in the West and the Montreal Alouettes from the East.

Rounding out the CFL futures board are the West's British Columbia Lions at +950 and the East's Ottawa RedBlacks with the longest odds on the board at +1300.

WEEK 1 CFL Game of the Week

The featured matchup in Week 1 pits Hamilton on the road against Saskatchewan in a scheduled 7 p.m. (ET) start this Saturday night. The Roughriders are favored by 2.5 points at home with the total set at 47.5 points.

The current betting consensus at VegasInsider is leaning towards the OVER in this game but some strong head-to-head trends point to a lower score than expected. The total has stayed UNDER in six of the last seven meetings in Saskatchewan and it has also stayed UNDER in six of the last seven games between these two teams overall.

Each and every week of the 2022 CFL season I will be posting my "best bet" pick for all of the games. Below is a link to VegasInsider with my Week 1 plays:
