This Week's Insider Sports Betting Tips

The college basketball season is drawing to a close highlighted by Saturday night's Final Four Round of the 2016 NCAA Men's Tournament. North Carolina is the only No. 1 seed left in the field and a pair of No. 2 seeds in Villanova and Oklahoma will square-off against one another for one of the spots in the national title game. The lone Cinderella still dancing is the Syracuse Orange as the No. 10 seed out of the Midwest Region.

BetOnline reshuffled the numbers in its latest futures odds to win this year's national title and as one of this week's insider betting tips for Doc's Sports my goal was to uncover the best value on the board. Also in this week's tips is a look at a top NBA team to fade down the stretch and a high-flying NHL playoff contender to ride as both of these sports' regular season schedule continue to draw to a close. Below is a link to this week's article for Doc's.

2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Futures Update

NASCAR's Sprint Cup series takes a break this week following a recent three-race West Coast swing and before the action fires back up at Martinsville next Sunday I decided to take a closer look at the updated futures odds to win this year's championship. We are only five events into a 36-race schedule, but three past champions have already laid claim to a checkered flag this year. Leading the way is six-time Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson with trips to the Winner's Circle at Atlanta and last Sunday at Fontana. Kevin Havick won the title in 2014 and he is off to a strong start this season with a win at Phoenix. Brad Keselowski is always a threat to win behind the wheel of the No. 2 car and the 2012 Sprint Cup Champ posted an early victory at Las Vegas to throw his name into the mix for another title run.

For the past several years I have been covering NASCAR for SBR Forum and this week I put together my top favorite, top contender and top longshot to win this year's Sprint Cup title based on the value in their recently updated futures odds. The link to my picks is listed below.

Louisiana Derby Preview & Free Picks

I am a huge horse racing fan and sometimes a fairly good handicapper of major graded stake races. For the past few years I have been covering the Kentucky Derby Trail for SBR Forum with weekly picks for some of the biggest events on the prep race schedule. This is the best time of the year for betting on horses in my book as the field for the annual "Run for the Roses" at Churchill Downs the first Saturday in May continues to take shape.

The top event on this Saturday's prep race schedule for three-year old Kentucky Derby hopefuls is the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds Racetrack. This is the first big-money stakes race on the slate leading-up to the Triple Crown season with a total prize purse of $1 million. I have broken down the current 11 horse field for this Saturday's race to come up with my top two entries to wheel together in an exacta play. My free pick is in this week's piece for SBR with a link to the article listed below.

This week I take a closer look at which NCAA Sweet 16 teams rank at the top of the list when it comes to covering against the spread. Finally, the clock is ticking down towards the start of the NHL Playoffs and I have uncovered a high-profile team that has been flying under the radar for most of the season making a serious move towards a run at this season's Stanley Cup.
