This three-year old Kentucky-bred colt will now attempt to capture one of the most elusive titles in all of sports as a 4/5 favorite to win the 150th running of the Belmont Stakes as part of Saturday's race card at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.
If this son of Scat Daddy is successful, he will become just the third Triple Crown winner in the past 40 years. Affirmed accomplished this feat in 1978 and, in 2015, American Pharoah ended the drought with victories in all three races. If Justify comes up short, he will join the list of the other 12 horses after Affirmed to win the first two jewels only to slip up in the grueling final test over the extended 1 1/2 miles of dirt at Belmont Park.
