Giants at Packers Free NFL Wild Card Playoff Pick

The NFL saved the best for last this Wild Card Weekend with Sunday's NFC clash between the 11-5 New York Giants and the 10-6 Green Bay Packers in a 4:40 p.m. (ET) start at frigid Lambeau Field. Both of these teams come into this matchup in pretty impressive form with New York winning nine of its last 11 games straight-up (8-3 against the spread) and the Packers boasting a SU six-game winning streak while going 5-1 ATS.

Both teams also feature a veteran quarterback that has already proven that they know how to get their team to a Super Bowl and win. This season, the Giants' Eli Manning has completed 63 percent of his 598 passing attempts for 4,027 yards and 26 touchdowns against 16 interceptions. Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers ended the regular season ranked fourth in the NFL in total passing yards (4,428) and his 40 touchdown strikes were the most in the league this year. New York has the definite edge on defense with a unit that was ranked second in the league in points allowed (17.8). Green Bay's defense was 22nd in yards allowed (363.9) and its 24.2 points-allowed average was ranked 21st on the list.

The Oddsmakers at BetAnySports online sportsbook now have the Packers listed as 5.5-point home favorites in this NFC wild card tilt and the betting line for the total is still set at 44.5. The early betting money has the public all over Green Bay, but the Giants have been able to cover in four of the last six meetings between the two with one game ending as a PUSH. I am leaning towards a play on the total line in this game and to get my complete preview and free pick at SportsBettingStats.com please check out the link below.

Raiders at Texans Free NFL Wild Card Playoff Pick

The quest for a NFL world title in Super Bowl LI on Feb. 5 at NRG Stadium in Houston features a Wild Card Round matchup at that same venue this Saturday between the 12-4 Oakland Raiders and the 9-7 Houston Texans. While both of these teams are heavy longshots to make it that far in this season's playoffs, at least one of these teams is guaranteed to at the very least advance to next weekend's Divisional Round of games.

Both these teams come into this AFC clash with issues at the quarterback position. The Raiders lost their starter Derek Carr a few weeks ago with a broken leg and his backup Matt McGloin is questionable with a bad shoulder. This leaves rookie Connor Cook as the only viable starter for Saturday's matchup. Houston head coach Bill O'Brian turned to Tom Savage as his starter late in the season for an ineffective Brock Osweiller, but Savage is still recovering from a concussion so Osweiller has been thrust back into the starting role.

The Oddsmakers at BetAnySports give the edge to the Texans as 3.5-point home favorites and the betting line for the total has been set at 37. Oakland will have to rely heavily on a running game that ended the regular season ranked sixth in the NFL in yards per game (120.1) with Cook making his first NFL start. The Texans will try and take some pressure off of their quarterback behind a rushing attack that averaged 116.2 yards a game. Houston also boasts a defense that is ranked first in the league in total yards allowed (301.3).

As part of my season-long NFL coverage for SportsBettingStats.com, the link below takes you to my complete game preview for this opening wild card game this Saturday along with my free prediction when it comes to betting on this matchup.

Packers and Lions Close Out the Season in a Winner Take All Tilt

The NFL has saved its best for last this New Year's Day when it comes to the final Sunday of the regular season with a winner-take-all battle for the NFC North Division title between the 9-6 Green Bay Packers and the 9-6 Detroit Lions in a prime time matchup at Ford Field. BetAnySports has Green Bay listed as a 3.5-point road favorite and the betting line for the total has been set at 48.5.

The Packers are riding a straight-up five-game winning streak while covering against the spread in four of those contests and the Lions will be looking to snap a two-game skid (SU and ATS) with road losses to the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys the past two weeks. Green Bay also has the early edge in the season series with a 34-27 victory against Detroit in late September as a 6.5-point favorite at home. The total went OVER BetAnySports' closing 47.5-point line in that game.

The Packers have won 18 of the last 22 meetings SU in this bitter division rivalry and they have an 8-3 edge ATS in the last 11 meetings. The total has stayed UNDER in five of the last seven games played in Detroit. While it appears that the cards are stacked against the Lions in this one, they have managed to cover in five of their previous seven home games this season.

Michigan vs. Florida State- Free Orange Bowl Pick

Friday's college football bowl game action caps things off with a matchup between the Big Ten's Michigan Wolverines and the ACC's Florida State Seminoles in this season's Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The oddsmakers at BetAnySports have Michigan listed as a seven-point favorite and the betting line for the total has been set at 52.5.

Both of these teams suffered a few disappointing losses this season to end any hopes of winning their conference title as well as earning a spot in the College Football Playoff to compete for a national title. Michigan dropped late-season games against Iowa and Ohio State to fall to 10-2 straight-up. It failed to cover in four of its last six games to fall to an even 6-6 against the spread. The Seminoles got tripped up early in the season in a road loss to Louisville and they were also on the road side of the scoreboard against North Carolina and Clemson to go 9-3 SU on the year. Florida State ended the season on a bright note for bettors with a 4-1 run ATS in its final five games as part of an overall record of 7-5 ATS.

This should be one of the better matchups heading into the New Year between two quality teams looking to end their season on a strong note. Please check out the link below at SportsBettingStats.com to get my full game preview and free pick.

Giants Set Their Sights on the Playoffs with a Win in Philly

Week 16 in the NFL gets underway this Thursday night with a NFC East clash between the 10-4 New York Giants and the 5-9 Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants are obviously headed in the right direction with eight victories in their last nine games to put themselves on the brink of making a return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 season. The Eagles have lost their last five games to fall out of contention in the NFC playoff race.

On the surface, it easy to see why taking New York as just a 2.5-point road favorite with BetAnySports is the way to go in this one. However, there is quite a bit of history between these two bitter division rivals in what has been a very streaky matchup over the past several years. One team seems to get the other team's number and run with it for an extended period of time. Right now, Philadelphia has the clear edge when it comes to playing the Giants both straight-up and against the spread. The Eagles are 4-1 both SU and ATS in the last five meetings overall and they are 5-2 both SU and ATS in their last seven home games in this series.

Everything is on the line for New York in this game, but do not expect Philly to rollover and lay down despite the fact it has forgotten how to win games. For my complete preview and free pick for Thursday night's game, please check out the link below at SportsBettingStats.com

2016 Las Vegas Bowl Preview and Free Pick

The 2016 College Bowl Season gets underway this Saturday and one of the featured matchups of the day is the AAC's Houston Cougars taking on the San Diego State Aztecs out of the Mountain West in this season's Las Vegas Bowl. The Cougars are listed as 3.5-point favorites with BetAnySports and the betting line for the total has been set at 51.5 points.

It has been quite a ride this season for the Cougars on their way to a straight-up record of 9-3. They posted a huge win against Oklahoma in Week 1 as part of a perfect 5-0 run to start the year. Down the stretch, they knocked off Louisville in convincing fashion with a 36-10 victory on Nov. 17 as 17-point underdogs at home. Houston has also had its share of disappointments in losses to Navy and SMU as a double-digit favorite. Following that big win against the Cardinals, it closed out its regular season with a stunning 48-44 loss to Memphis as a 5.5-point road favorite. Betting on the Cougars this season has been a losing proposition at 5-7 against the spread and heading into this Saturday's game they are a dismal 1-6 ATS in their last seven games.

San Diego State laid claim to the Mountain West Conference title this season with a 27-24 victory against Wyoming on Dec. 3 as a 7.5-point favorite. The Aztecs were 10-3 SU with an even 6-6-1 record ATS and one of the biggest reasons for this year's success was a bruising ground game that averaged 273.3 yards a game. The Cougars come into this matchup as a much higher profile team this season given those previous upsets over nationally ranked teams, but they are going to have their hands full with one of the most balanced Mid-Major teams in the nation come Saturday afternoon in the sports gambling capital of the world.

Please check out the link below to SportsBettingStats.com for my complete preview and free pick for this year's Las Vegas Bowl and stayed tuned for more free plays all bowl season long.

Cowboys at Giants- Free Sunday Night Football Pick

The Cowboys will not only put their current 11-game winning streak on the line this Sunday night at MetLife Stadium, they will be looking to avenge their only loss of the season. Dallas opened this season at home against the New York Giants and it lost 20-19 in a game that ended as a PUSH on BetAnySports' closing one-point spread. The other big carrot on the stick is the fact that a Cowyboys' victory against their bitter division rivals in Week 14 would lock up the NFC East Division title.

The Giants are sure to have something to say about the eventual outcome of this rematch given how well they have been playing lately. Aside from last week's forgettable performance on the road against Pittsburgh, this is still one of the top teams in the NFC this season at 8-4 on the year. Behind a veteran quarterback that knows how to engineer improbable Super Bowl runs, New York put together a solid six-game winning streak before stumbling to that 24-14 loss to the Steelers as a 6.5-point road underdog. I love the fact that the Giants are getting 3.5 points at home this Sunday night against a team they have covered against eight times in the last 12 meetings in the Meadowlands.
