Longshot Set to Win Indy 500

I cover NASCAR's Sprint Cup series for Cappers Picks and you can find this week's picks for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 in the NASCAR section on the site. As an added task this week they asked me to come up with my picks for Sunday's Indy 500, which is the biggest race of the year in IndyCar racing. This year's event offers a special twist since it is the 100th running of this storied race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is commonly referred to as the Brickyard.

Handicapping IndyCar racing is somewhat different than NASCAR in the sense that a driver's starting position is far more important in open-wheeled racing than racing stock cars. Winning the pole position for a race like the Indy 500 almost guarantees that the driver of that car will be favored to win. It also makes picking longshots an almost guaranteed losing proposition given just how hard it is to beat the top favorites on a very tight track. That being said, I am still going out on a limb this Sunday with a driver at 20/1 odds as my winner. To find out who I think can upset the field in the 100th running of the Indy 500 just follow the link below to my compete race preview on Cappers Picks. To place your own bet on Sunday's race simply go to BetAnySports.com as the top online sportsbook for US sports bettors.

NBA Eastern Conference Finals Game 5 Prop Picks

Home court advantage has prevailed through the first four games of a best-of-seven showdown between the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers and the No.2 Toronto Raptors in this season's NBA Eastern Conference Finals. Cleveland won the first two games on its home court by a combined 50 points as a double-digit favorite in each contest. The Cavs went on the road for the next two games to the Air Canada Centre as six-point favorites on BetAnySports' closing betting line and lost both contests by a combined 21 points. Game 5 is set for Wednesday night back in Cleveland and it is currently favored by 10.5 points to take a commanding 3-2 lead in this series.

In conjunction with Game 5 and this series, I have dedicated this week's top prop picks piece for Doc's Sports to a trio of plays that have the best chance of paying off. To get in on all the action check out the link below to my free picks.

This Week's Insiders Sports Betting Tips

Both the NBA and NHL Conference Finals press-on with key matchups on the slate over the next few days in both sports. Both the Toronto Raptors and the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA are looking for a second consecutive win on their home court as underdogs in their next game. Over in the NHL's Stanley Cup Playoffs, the San Jose Sharks and the St. Louis Blues are knotted at two games apiece in the Western Conference Finals while the surprising Tampa Bay Lightning have a 3-2 series lead on Pittsburgh and they are just one win away from a return trip to the NHL Finals from the East.

I have dug up some interesting insider tips for a few of those series as well as some betting odds for three of the top golfers in the world as far as their chances to win the remaining three Majors this season after coming up short in this past April's Masters. Check at the link below at Doc's Sports for all of this week's insiders sports betting tips.

2016 Preakness Stakes Free Exacta Pick

I went chalk in the Kentucky Derby with Nyquist as my top pick, but I came up short on my exacta pick when Exaggerator edged out my second-choice Gun Runner to capture the place position in that race. The second leg of the Triple Crown racing season takes place this Saturday with the 141st running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore and I am looking to cash all my tickets this time around.

Look for a muddy track on Saturday with heavy rain in the forecast, but as of Friday Nyquist was still listed as a heavy 3/5 favorite to keep his Triple Crown title hopes alive. Exaggerator comes in as a 3/1 second-favorite to get past his rival this time around and newcomer Stradivari was listed as an 8/1 third favorite to win his racing debut in a stakes race. A few of the other top contenders to win on Saturday include Collected, Cherry Wine and Uncle Lino. All three of these horses come in fresh after sitting out the Kentucky Derby for one reason or the other.

If you are looking for a full array of betting odds and props for Saturday's Preakness check out the horse racing board at BetAnySports and if you are looking for my exacta pick for this race check out my complete Preakness preview at Sports Betting Stats at the link below.

This Week's Insider Sports Betting Tips

Betting on series prices in the NBA Playoffs can sometimes be an easy way to cash a ticket betting on a heavy favorite if you are willing to take a pretty big risk if things end-up going sideways. Oklahoma City was not a huge underdog in its recent series against San Antonio, but most NBA experts had the Spurs advancing out of that matchup. In the case of the Eastern Conference Finals between Cleveland and Toronto, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who thinks that the Raptors are capable of beating the Cavs over seven games. I happen to agree and in one of my insider betting tips for Doc's Sports this week (link copied below) I will show you why it is worth the risk to go with the -1000 moneyline odds on Cleveland to win.

Betting Odds and Free Picks 2016 NFL Early Props

Each week I put together a few prop bet picks for Doc's Sports. Most times they are relevant to the betting action going on that particular week, but every once and awhile I will pull-out my crystal ball and make a few predictions for props that will take place somewhere down the road. That was the case this past week with my NFL prop bet picks for coach of the year, league MVP in 2016 and the offensive rookie of the year. While none of these honors are easy to pick when the first game of the new regular season is still five months away, but I was able to find some decent value in the betting odds on Bovada's NFL offseason prop bet board. Check-out the link below to see if you agree with who I have winning these three awards.

This Week's Insiders Sports Betting Tips

It is brand new week of sports betting action and most of the attention from the betting public continues to revolve around postseason play in the NBA and NHL. Both leagues are deep into the best-of-seven conference semifinal round to determine the final four teams left to compete for a world title. The Cleveland Cavaliers are moving on in the NBA's Eastern Conference following another four-game sweep and Tampa Bay has punched its ticket to a spot in the NHL's Eastern Conference Finals after eliminating the New York Islanders in five games.

A few of this week's tips revolve around series in both leagues that are still touch and go as far as determining a winner and my third insider tip of the week takes a closer look at Nyquist's updated futures odds to add the second leg of the Triple Crown series to the win column after running away with the Kentucky Derby title this past Saturday at Churchill Downs. The link below is to this week's tips as previously posted on Doc's Sports.
