Betting On The Lions to Cover in Columbus

Every week I release my top underdog play for the popular sports betting site Scores & Stats. I have had a good run of success in my college football picks this season, so I decided to focus my attention on Saturday's Big Ten showdown between Penn State and Ohio State in Columbus. Both teams are ranked in the College Football Playoff Top 10 with the Lions at No. 8 and the Buckeyes holding down the No. 2 spot. However, the Oddsmakers see a much wider spread between the two Big Ten East Division rivals. Ohio State is currently favored by 18.5 points at America's Bookie online sportsbook.

This is a great opportunity for the 10-0 Buckeyes to cement their spot as one of the best teams in the nation. It is also a chance for 9-1 Penn State to get back into the college football playoff picture following an earlier loss to Minnesota. While it is hard to see the Lions pulling off the straight-up upset on the road, recent history between the two rivals suggest that this game will stay much closer then the betting line at America's Bookie suggests.

Betting NASCAR's Cup Series Championship

The long extended NASCAR Cup Series schedule that began with the Daytona 500 ends this Sunday with the running of the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The final race of the year will determine this year's overall racing champion. The top four drivers in the Cup Series standings will square off against one another for one last run around the track.

Over the past five years, the racing champion also won this race. In those five races, a different driver has walked away with the racing title. Kevin Harvick claimed his only career Cup Series title with the victory in the 2014 race at Homestead-Miami. Kyle Busch won the championship the following season with Jimmie Johnson adding a seventh racing title to his Hall of Fame racing career in 2016. Martin Truex Jr. won the championship race in 2017 and Joey Logano bested the four-driver field last year.

Harvick, Busch and Truex have worked their way into this year's championship field along with Denny Hamlin, who is in position to win his first career Cup Series title. Hamlin started this season with a victory in the Daytona 500 as the first of six Cup Series wins this year. How fitting would it be if the No. 11 Toyota can end the season with a championship trip down Victory Lane.

Closing out this season's NASCAR Cup Series coverage for the popular sports betting site Sports Betting Stats, the link below is to my complete race preview and betting pick for Sunday's Cup Series Championship.

Sunday's Cup Series Race in Phoenix Fills Out The Championship Field

The one thing that NASCAR fans and bettors know for sure is that past champions Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick will have a chance to add another racing title to their overall Cup Series resume. Each of these drivers won a race in the final elimination round of this season's 10-race playoff. The other six contenders for next Sunday's championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway are still trying to lock up an automatic berth in he final four-driver field with a win this Sunday in Phoenix.

Kyle Busch comes into the second-to-last playoff race as a +310 favorite to win and I see quite a bit of value in that number. He has not won a point race since early June but he also remains the type of driver that has a good chance to win anytime he is behind the wheel of the No. 18 Toyota.

Along with Busch, I have found two other drivers that offer quite a bit of value in their odds to win as posted by 5Dimes online sportsbook. Each week of the NASCAR Cup Series schedule I cover the races for the popular sports betting site Sports Betting Stats with my top-valued betting picks. The link below is to my three value picks for Sunday's Bluegreen Vacation 500 at ISM Raceway in Phoenix.

Betting The Underdog in a Huge SEC Showdown

Throughout the college football season there are some major showdowns on the slate. Games that will not only have a big impact on a conference title race, but on the quest to win a national championship. The 'best of the best' in college football showdowns highlight this Saturday's betting board with the No. 2 LSU Tigers squaring off against the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama is listed as a six-point home favorite for the 3:30 p.m. start on CBS. The total line is set at 62.5 points. The current betting consensus is leaning towards LSU at 60 percent and I would have to agree. I am going with the Tigers this week as my top underdog pick of the week for the popular sports betting site Scores & Stats. The link below to this site contains my full betting preview for this high profile SEC West battle.
