Betting On The NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year

The NFL offseason is a great time of the year to bet on all the futures and prop bets that are posted on board at BetAnySports. When it comes to player props for the 2019 regular season, a very popular betting prop covers the top candidates to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. Defensive lineman Joey Bosa was the second overall pick of this year's draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He opens as the clear favorite to win ROY honors on that side of the ball, but there is betting value in a few other defensive players poised to make a big impact right out of the gate.

As part of my NFL offseason coverage for the popular sports betting website Scores & Stats, the link below covers some of the players that have the best chance to win.

Early Betting Odds for The 2019 Belmont Stakes

This year's Triple Crown racing series for the top three-year old thoroughbreds in the nation comes to a close on Saturday, June 8 with the running of the Belmont Stakes. Horse bettors have already seen a 65/1 longshot replace the favorite as the winner of the Kentucky Derby due to an interference infraction. Country House produced one of the biggest payouts in Kentucky Derby history and Maximum Security was bumped all the way down to 17th in the final running order.

Neither of those colts ran in the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course to open the door for War of Will to take first in the second jewel of the crown. That race featured a three-year old colt named Bodexpress that remained competitive for most of the 1 3/16-mile run without a jockey after his rider was thrown to the ground coming out of the gate.

Who knows what this year's Belmont has in store for bettors with an anticipated field of 12 to 14 entries. BetAnySports has released its futures odds to win and, at the very least, this should remain a very competitive race over the longer distance of 1 1/2 miles on the dirt track at Belmont Park. As part of my Triple Crown coverage for the popular sports betting site Scores & Stats, the following link is to my early betting preview for this year's Belmont Stakes.

Sharks Look to Force a Game 7 Against St. Louis

Ever since the NHL All-Star break I have been touting the San Jose Sharks as the team to beat in the Western Conference. After surviving two seven-game series against Pacific Division rivals Vegas and Colorado, they are in St. Louis on Tuesday night for a must-win Game 6 showdown against the St. Louis Blues.

The Blues whitewashed the Sharks 5-0 in Game 5 as road underdogs to take the 3-2 series edge and they are now -170 home favorites at BetAnySports to end this series win another win in Game 6. The betting consensus and betting money have gravitated towards St. Louis, but I am riding the Sharks' bandwagon until it either crashes or turns around and heads back to San Jose for Thursday's deciding Game 7 showdown.

Check out the link below at the popular sports betting website "Ask the Bookie" for my full game preview and free betting pick for Tuesday night's Game 6

NFL Value Bets to Win Super Bowl LIV

The start of the 2019 NFL regular season is still months away, but it is no big surprise that the New England Patriots are once again favored to win this year's Super Bowl. They have been to the last three championship games with two more NFL titles on the overall resume of Bill Belichick as the head coach and Tom Brady as the starting quarterback.

The Los Angeles Rams won the NFC Championship last year before losing to New England 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII. They are the top favorites to win the conference again this season and second-favorites to win Super Bowl LIV on the NFL futures board at BetAnySports. As part of my offseason NFL coverage for the popular sports betting website Scores & Stats, I took a closer look at the betting odds to win the next Super Bowl in search of some of the best value in the numbers.

Going Chalk in Saturday's Preakness Stakes

I have been covering this season's Triple Crown Trail since last summer when the top two-year old thoroughbred colts first started making a name for themselves. The 2019 Triple Crown racing season got underway two week's ago with the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs and a 65/1 longshot stunned the field. The favorite, Maximum Security actually won that race, but he was eventually dropped all the way to 17th place due to interference early in the race.

Neither the winner Country House or Maximum Security will run in Saturday's Preakness at Pimlico Race Course as the second jewel of the Triple Crown. Also out of the lineup are Code of Honor and Tacitus as the other two colts in the Top 3 at Churchill Downs. This leaves Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert's Improbable as the 5/2 morning line favorite coming off his fourth-place finish in the Kentucky Derby.

The son of City Zip is still looking for his first victory as a three-year old after winning three stakes races as a juvenile, including the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Futurity. This year, he was second in one division of the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes before finishing second to Omaha Beach in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby in early April. He is Baffert's only entry in the Preakness after the famed trainer came up short with the top three favorites in the Kentucky Derby.

Many bettors may overlook Improbable as the favorite to win for more sexy choices such as Owendale at 10/1 or Bourbon War at 12/1 odds on the morning line. Me, I am going chalk in this one with the favorite finally living up to his lofty expectations.

The Bettor's Edge- Paying for Betting Picks

Anyone who bets on sports is always looking for an edge against the sportsbooks taking those bets. It is a known fact that the average recreational bettor loses more money than they win. Part of the equation is the added juice or commission paid to the sportsbook on every losing bet. Improving your overall betting strategy while sharpening your handicapping skills can help to raise your current winning percentage, but it is still a tall task the beat the books on a regular basis.

A popular shortcut in the process is buying your betting picks from a professional handicapper. The first thing that you need to keep in mind if you decide to go this route is that even the best expert handicappers in game are going to win around 60 percent of their plays. It is common to read about big money hits on high-unit locks. However, just like in baseball, a high number of home runs is usually accompanied by a high number of strike outs.

You also have to factor in the cost of buying those picks. This becomes an added financial burden on any losing bets. You also have to generate enough betting volume to help justify the overall cost of the selection package. The main benefit of buying picks for your favorite betting sports is an almost guaranteed winning percentage that is much higher than what you have been able to produce on your own.

Buying betting picks was the topic of conversation for my weekly Bettor's Edge for the highly popular sports betting website www.sportsbettingstats.com. The link below covers this topic in much greater detail.
