The No. 3 Clemson Tigers are clearly the class of the ACC this season considering that only one other team in that conference is ranked in the current AP Top 25. That team just so happens to be playing the Tigers this Saturday in a 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Memorial Stadium. The No. 16 North Carolina State Wolfpack are off to a perfect 5-0 start straight-up with a 3-2 record against the spread. Their first big test of the season never materialized with Week 3's matchup against West Virginia postponed due to Hurricane Florence.
If the Wolfpack somehow find a way to pass Saturday's test as 16.5-point road underdogs with BetAnySports, they would most likely be a Top 10 team and firmly in the driver seat to win the ACC this season. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, that is a very big 'if'. NC State is a good team behind a passing offense that is sixth in the nation in yards per game and its defense has held opposing teams to 16.8 points per game. Everything is going to have to go its way against Clemson, but the Tigers have been a tough bet all season long at 2-4 ATS, so covering in this game is far from automatic.
