I went chalk in the Kentucky Derby with Nyquist as my top pick, but I came up short on my exacta pick when Exaggerator edged out my second-choice Gun Runner to capture the place position in that race. The second leg of the Triple Crown racing season takes place this Saturday with the 141st running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore and I am looking to cash all my tickets this time around.
Look for a muddy track on Saturday with heavy rain in the forecast, but as of Friday Nyquist was still listed as a heavy 3/5 favorite to keep his Triple Crown title hopes alive. Exaggerator comes in as a 3/1 second-favorite to get past his rival this time around and newcomer Stradivari was listed as an 8/1 third favorite to win his racing debut in a stakes race. A few of the other top contenders to win on Saturday include Collected, Cherry Wine and Uncle Lino. All three of these horses come in fresh after sitting out the Kentucky Derby for one reason or the other.
If you are looking for a full array of betting odds and props for Saturday's Preakness check out the horse racing board at BetAnySports and if you are looking for my exacta pick for this race check out my complete Preakness preview at Sports Betting Stats at the link below.

This Week's Insider Sports Betting Tips
Betting on series prices in the NBA Playoffs can sometimes be an easy way to cash a ticket betting on a heavy favorite if you are willing to take a pretty big risk if things end-up going sideways. Oklahoma City was not a huge underdog in its recent series against San Antonio, but most NBA experts had the Spurs advancing out of that matchup. In the case of the Eastern Conference Finals between Cleveland and Toronto, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who thinks that the Raptors are capable of beating the Cavs over seven games. I happen to agree and in one of my insider betting tips for Doc's Sports this week (link copied below) I will show you why it is worth the risk to go with the -1000 moneyline odds on Cleveland to win.

Betting Odds and Free Picks 2016 NFL Early Props
Each week I put together a few prop bet picks for Doc's Sports. Most times they are relevant to the betting action going on that particular week, but every once and awhile I will pull-out my crystal ball and make a few predictions for props that will take place somewhere down the road. That was the case this past week with my NFL prop bet picks for coach of the year, league MVP in 2016 and the offensive rookie of the year. While none of these honors are easy to pick when the first game of the new regular season is still five months away, but I was able to find some decent value in the betting odds on Bovada's NFL offseason prop bet board. Check-out the link below to see if you agree with who I have winning these three awards.

This Week's Insiders Sports Betting Tips
It is brand new week of sports betting action and most of the attention from the betting public continues to revolve around postseason play in the NBA and NHL. Both leagues are deep into the best-of-seven conference semifinal round to determine the final four teams left to compete for a world title. The Cleveland Cavaliers are moving on in the NBA's Eastern Conference following another four-game sweep and Tampa Bay has punched its ticket to a spot in the NHL's Eastern Conference Finals after eliminating the New York Islanders in five games.
A few of this week's tips revolve around series in both leagues that are still touch and go as far as determining a winner and my third insider tip of the week takes a closer look at Nyquist's updated futures odds to add the second leg of the Triple Crown series to the win column after running away with the Kentucky Derby title this past Saturday at Churchill Downs. The link below is to this week's tips as previously posted on Doc's Sports.

2016 Kentucky Derby Top Prop Picks
Everyone loves to bet on the Kentucky Derby, but picking a straight-up winner for this Saturday's race could be tough to do given the depth of talent in the 20-horse field. You have Nyquist as a 3/1 favorite and Exaggerator at 8/1 odds as the top two choices on the opening morning line. A few of the other top contenders to win include Gun Runner,Mohaymen and Creator all listed at 10/1 followed by Mor Spirit and Brody's Cause at 12/1 odds. Any of these seven horses have already proven to be more than capable of winning a Kentucky Derby and there are even a few more three-year olds in the field that have what it takes to pull-off an upset.
One of the best way to hedge your bets in a crowded race like this is to wager some of your bankroll on a number of different prop bets that have been released in conjunction with this race. I went to Bovada Sportsbook and after going through an extensive list of betting options I found a trio of Kentucky Derby props that have a great chance to payoff. Follow the link below to this week's "best bet" prop picks for Doc's Sports to find my Kentucky Derby picks.

2016 Kentucky Derby Win-Place-Show Free Picks
I have been following this year's crop of top three-year old thoroughbreds since early last summer when they were just starting their racing career as juveniles. This Saturday at Churchill Downs, one of the top 20 horses in this group will take the next big step towards greatness with a win in the 142nd Kentucky Derby. This is horse racing's biggest single betting event of the year and this year's field is shaping-up to be one of the most competitive in recent memory.
I am two-for-two in my winning picks for the last two "Run for the Roses", but in all fairness, California Chrome in 2014 and American Pharoah last year went off as prohibitive favorites. This year things are a bit different with Nyquist listed as a 3/1 favorite on the morning line followed by Exaggerator as an 8/1 second favorite. Next on the list is a trio of horses at 10/1 betting odds that includes Mohaymen, Gun Runner and Creator to round-out the top five horses in the field. Moving down the list, you also have quality contenders in trainer Bob Baffert's Mor Spirit at 12/1 and a pair of Todd Pletcher-trained horses in Outwork and Destin at 15/1 odds to win.
As part of my horse racing picks for SportsBettingStats.com, I have thoroughly handicapped the entire 20-horse field to come-up with my top choices to win, show and place in Saturday's race. I also have my eye on a 20/1 longshot that could be poised to upset the field at Churchill Downs. Below is the link to the article.

This Week's Insiders Sports Betting Tips
This week's insider sports betting tips for Doc's Sports run the gambit from the NBA Playoffs to Tuesday's Republican primary in Indiana. Diversity can be the spice of life when it comes to betting on sports, entertainment or political props as long as you can create a winning edge against the books. Many times the odds that are released for betting events that are not necessarily a mainstream can be softer than the sharp lines that are normally in place for professional leagues such as the NFL or NBA. If the insider information confirms a play one way or the other then this could present itself as a golden opportunity for a high unit play. The following link is this week's betting tips with an inside edge.
